A look into my work, the things I love, and a few things I’ve picked up along the way.
Hi, I’m Sonia!
My experience spans video production, casting, styling, and creative production, with work across film, photography, music videos, and digital content. Most recently, I cast and styled four short films, working across character development, wardrobe, and the practical coordination involved in bringing each project together. I am also the co-founder of Sweet Jets, a production company focused on developing and producing original creative projects.
I have experience in video production and digital content creation, including filming, editing, and producing multimedia work across editorial and marketing contexts. I contributed to a recruitment campaign via Beckett Now for Leeds Beckett University Rugby, developing promotional content and conducting interviews with UCLA athletes as part of the campaign production.
I also assisted with makeup and art direction on Kasador’s award-winning music video ‘Lock On’, which received the Kingston Canadian Film Festival Favourite Music Video award.
My production experience extends across film sets, photo shoots, and creative projects, with work in makeup, set decoration, and production support. This includes music video productions involving special effects makeup, as well as assisting with the launch campaign for weaf’s first collection, supporting both campaign video production and photography.
Alongside production, I have developed an interest in screenwriting, creating original scripts that explore character, structure, and visual storytelling.
Media & Production
My experience spans editorial writing, reporting, research, and publishing, with features for The Tab and Between the Covers Magazine. My work has involved conducting interviews, researching and developing stories, and writing cultural and editorial pieces exploring identity, people, and lived experience.
I have also worked in news reporting with West Leeds Dispatch, covering community-focused issues in Leeds through field reporting, interviews, and independent story development.
Alongside writing and reporting, I have an interest in editorial production, including magazine layout, graphic design, and bringing written and visual elements together within a publication. During my MSc in Journalism, I further developed my research and long-form writing practice, including through my dissertation, which allowed me to explore a subject in greater depth through research, analysis, and written work.
I’m particularly interested in the relationship between words and images, and in how thoughtful editorial choices can shape the way an idea, subject, or perspective is experienced by an audience.
Editorial & Narrative
My experience extends beyond media and production. I am currently working at a law firm in legal research, legal assistance, administration, and recruitment, including supporting hiring and working closely with clients and colleagues. This role has given me experience working with detailed information, managing competing priorities, and adapting to very different kinds of work.
Outside of my professional life, I’m naturally curious and enjoy finding inspiration in places that have little to do with what I’m working on. I love travelling, discovering new places and cultures, and paying attention to the details that make somewhere feel distinct.
I also love cooking and trying new recipes, particularly experimenting with different cuisines and ingredients. I’m always looking for something new to learn, make, see, or experience.
